Welcome to the Southern Indiana Spikes Website
A Youth Competitive Baseball/Softball Organization
The sole intention of our organization is to provide the youth of our area an avenue to participate in competitive sports. We will use this "tool" of sports to integrate, initiate and ingrain valuable life skills, both physically and mentally, that will benefit them well past their sports lives.

2009 Tryouts Announced for 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12U Spikes Teams!
2009 Spikes Tryout Date Announced ! ! !
(NOTE: Try out times updated 8-14-08 !!! )
The Southern Indiana Spikes tournament/competitive baseball organization is pleased to announce our upcoming “open” try-outs for the 2009 season. 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12U team try-outs will be held at Yelig Park in Santa Claus, Indiana on Saturday, August 23rd. The Try-out session start times are as follows 8U – 9:00 AM, 9U - 10:30 AM, 10U – 12:30 PM, 11U – 2:00 PM, 12U – 3:30 PM. The age cut off date is May 1st, 2009 (what ever your age on this date is the age division you are eligible for). Please sign-in / register at least thirty minutes prior to your respective try out start time. There will be a $10 try-out fee per player payable at registration. For more information about the tryouts please contact Brad Fella @ (812) 544-3045 or email to bcfella@psci.net. For directions to the baseball complex for try-outs, just click on "Field Locations" on the left menu.

2008 Spencer County Fall Youth Baseball Instructional League.......
Spencer County, Indiana Fall Baseball Announced!
The Southern Indiana Spikes Baseball Organization, in cooperation with the Chrisney Summer League, is pleased to announce it will be hosting an instructional boys baseball league this fall as follows: (ages divisions listed are 2008 ages -this current season) The 10 & 11yr old league and the 8 & 9yr old live pitch league will play games on Saturday afternoons beginning August 30th. The 6 & 7yr old pitch machine league will play games on Sunday afternoons beginning August 31st. All games will be played at the Chrisney, Indiana baseball fields. Individual players, partial or entire teams are welcome. Sign ups are on Saturday July 19th and on Saturday July 26th 2008 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm each day at the Chrisney ballpark behind the Chrisney cemetery (turn east on High Street of US 231). (Remember, the age groups are based on this year's (2008) age requirements.) Payment for individuals and/or teams must be received by the Fall Baseball personel by 3:00pm on July 26th to confirm your spot!

11-U Spikes Win J-Card Early Bird Bash

The 2008 11-U Southern Indiana Spikes baseball team won the 11 year old division of the Inaugural J-Card Early Bird Bash in Jasper Indiana on April 20th. They wrapped up the the tournament with a 4-0 record by defeating the Louisville Cyclones in the championship game. Team members include; Cody Seifrig, Taylor Market, Nicholas Waninger, Trevor Lehr, Tyler Ward, Gavin Schaefer, Caleb Sabelhaus, Austin Alles, Damon Wilmes, Mason Becher and Corey Ebelhar. Coaches are John Becher, Eddie Ward and Keith Waninger.

The Spikes Organization Announces Two Seperate Apparel & Merchandise Programs for 2008!
The Spikes will have two programs for apparel and merchandise in 2008.
The familiar, local store program is available along with a new on-line store that will feature items not in the local program.

To Our Spikes Teammates, Parents and Friends;
Take a look at our new "On-Line" Southern Indiana Spikes Team Store at Prep Sportswear! It has hundreds of products to choose from and the ability to personalize each product with your name, player number and year! Check it out! Just click on "Spikes On-Line Sportswear Store" in the menu on the left side of this home page. This on-line apparel will be available for ordering the entire season!
The Spikes will also still be offering the other, same local Spikes Apparel program as we have had in past years. It is has been completed for 2008 and the new product brochure is ready. It is posted in the "Handouts/Info" page of this website. Please contact your Spikes team manager for more information on the local apparel program and how it works.

The 2008 Spikes Local Purchase Apparel & Merchandise Catalog is Ready....
We are happy to announce that the 2008 local merchandise and apparel program is once again set up and ready for your orders. Please click on the link below to be re-directed to the new downloadable brochure. Please note that these local orders must be turned in to the designated local store by March 1st 2008. You must be a Spikes member and have website security clearance to access this document. Spikes Athletic Center Facility Renovated!
The Spikes workout facility, now known as the "Southern Indiana Spikes Athletic Center" (S.A.C. for short), has experienced a major change over this past fall and winter. Several coaches, board members and parents have spent countless hours painting, cleaning and upgrading the facility. Some of the upgrades include the additon of seperate hitting and pitching instructional "rooms" and a lounge for parents to relax in while thier son/daughter works out. This is something that all of the Spikes family should be proud of.
A weight & exercise room is currently being completed/finished.
More additions are continuing now and are being planned in the future.
The facility is also open to "outside" teams and individuals. Team practices as well as individual workout sessions are welcomed. Please contact President Brad Fella for more information. Click on the "Contact Us" page for Brad's contact info.

Info About Secured Pages of the Spikes Website...
Certian pages of the Spikes website are password protected, this is, you must be approved before being allowed to visit those webpages. Access to those pages is exclusively for Spikes players, coaches, parents or guardians. If you are one of the aforementioned people, just follow the directions after clicking on any secured page. If you don't have an e-teamz account, you must first set one up. Just follow the step by step directions. The Webmaster will be notified of your request and will respond in a timely manner.

Spikes license plates are once again available this year for your vehicle. They come in red w/white letters and white w/black letters. You can also add your favorite player's uniform number at no extra charge. Just let your team manager know or e-mail Keith Waninger (just click on his name). Keith is the 2008 11U Team Manager & Assistant Coach. He is coordinating this order.
The price is only $12 each regardless of color or numbering selection.

The athletic field is where the kids learn the lessons of life and have fun. They learn that winning isnt as important as preparing to win They learn never to give up They learn to lose with dignity They learn to win with honor They learn that you can be whatever you want to be if you work hard enough at it They may never be first-team or all-state or an all-American, but the important thing is that they try They learn to be good citizens Its better to be a good American than an all-American.

To Find Calendar Events...
The "General Calendar" listed on the main site menu will contain events that are considered to be "organizational" events, that is something that all Spikes players, parents or coaches (regardless of age division) might have interest in. If the event is considered more "team specific", that is it only relates to a particular team, then it can be found on that team's webpage calendar.
(Examples: Birthdays, holidays & the end of year banquet are considered "organizational" events. While team practices, meetings & tournament dates are consider "specific team events")
To view calendar events will require website security clearance.

These are instructions to help you find any Spike team's webpage, whether the current season or past seasons. Look at the menu on the left hand side of this page and click on "Find a Spikes Team". Then, on the next page that comes up, select the year (the current season year or any past season's year) of the team you are looking for on the right side of the screen. Then find the age division of that year on the left and click on it. That will arrive you at that team's individual webpage.

Do you have news, photos or info to add to the Spikes website?
If you have something you would like considered to be added to our Spikes website, such as a picture, news article or just information, just contact your team's (age division) website administrator (you can ask your Head Coach whom that is). That person can present it to the website team, and if it can be used, it will be added to the site. (We have to watch how much[and what] we add to the website as we are limited on storage space)
